Stymie The Sleepless Effect

The days had settled into a repetition of colloidal September mornings,
of red eyes with dark underlining circles,
of a little less money than desirable,
of the radio and that rataplan, that rata-tat-tat, that chicka-chicka-boom.

With each arrival of a new morning came a ding, or a clink—
the clink of a 1989/'88/'87/'86/'85/'84 copper penny in a clay bowl.

a limp hope, a stalled plane.

and carnivores,
dew and molded bread,

The Look Around [ I ] it doesn't breathe, hopelessness,
when the dog and warmth

work in a comfortable
conduit, an
easing silence. [ II ] it's

dead in the estival, [ III ] dying even in winter
in the cold-footed, look-around sky,

dying,

warping polite gestures
to abnormalty—

pauses for sips of milk turned into
unreasoned contemplations

Lukentine In these last days, spit out like dust and slag,
I'd wished for everything and nothing. I'd dreamt
of many a thing—
shrooms,
cyberextortionists,
dying in the eyes of a triclops,
rabbit feet hung bare from string.

When I had tried to live a life of happiness,
baked
hard in the June sun
&
soft in the winter wind,
I was given nothing but make-believe words:
lukentine and tumenshin.

Lazed against the window,
knees tucked under chin,
hushing haze onto the glass,
I watched
the abysmal sky cough up
dun brume
and greige rack.

Maybe this was life,
full of
prime depression;
wanton diseases,
trundling through the body;

There and Back Again

I'll be quick to say it: my computer is broke, so I can't get on DA unless, of course, I visit my public library which is all too infrequent. I miss you all dearly.

Some other things on my mind:
1) You should read one of John Irving's novel. You really should.
2) I'm hoping I can purchase The 90-Day Novel and We Need to Talk about Kevin within the next week or two. Waiting this long has driven my insane, but I suppose patience is a virtue.
3) My birthday is next week. And I have a track meet the same day. Ew.
4) My younger sister finally convinced me to watch Burn Notice. Love it.
5) I also started watching two new series: Awake and Touch. I recommend you watch them as well.
